Former NFL Player Earl Thomas’ Identity Stolen By Ex-Wife’s Boyfriend In $1.9M Scheme, 2 Years After Her Gunpoint Arrest

Dang! Two years after being held at gunpoint by his then-wife, former NFL player Earl Thomas had his identity stolen from her boyfriend in a $1.9 million scheme.

For those needing a refresher, back in April 2020, Seattle Seahawks legend Earl Thomas was held at gunpoint by Nina Heisser, his then-wife. At the time, officers with the Austin Police Department said they received a call about a disturbance at a home in Austin, Texas around 3:41 a.m.

The officers said, “We observed that a Black female wearing an orange sweater with a knife in her hand, later identified as Nina Thomas, was chasing a shirtless black male, later identified as Earl Thomas, with a pistol in his hand around a vehicle.” Officers then ordered the couple to each drop their weapons and get on the ground.

According to officers, Heisser explained that Thomas left their home earlier that day after an argument, with his brother Seth picking him up. She then went on Snapchat to track his location and saw a video of him with another woman. When she pinpointed their location to an Airbnb rental home, she asked two friends to accompany her to confront Thomas. She also brought along his 9mm Beretta to “scare him.”

Upon her arrival, Heisser saw Thomas and his brother Seth in bed with several women, one of whom ended up recording the entire ordeal. Heisser later confessed to putting the gun to Thomas’ head, believing she took the magazine out of the gun. Officers said she was unaware the gun had a round in the chamber. Thomas told police Heisser struck him in the face several times before he wrestled the gun away from her.

Heisser and her accomplices were arrested and charged with burglary of a residence with intent to commit aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, family violence. They all bonded out of jail shortly after, with Heisser being ordered to stay 200 yards away from Thomas and the woman he was caught in bed with.

Months following Heisser’s arrest, she filed for divorce in November 2020 after 4 years of marriage. Despite Thomas claiming that he and Heisser were trying to work through things after the cheating scandal and her gun arrest, things couldn’t be worked out long term. In her November 3 filing, she cited adultery as the grounds for ending the marriage. She added that the relationship was strained and there was zero “reasonable expectation of reconciliation.”

Additionally, she asked the court to only give Thomas, who retired from the NFL in 2019 with the Baltimore Ravens, limited access to their children until “he takes a parenting course and can show evidence that he is able to care for the children for an extended period of time.”

Following the cheating scandal, gunpoint arrest, and divorce, the series of unfortunate events continued between Earl Thomas and his ex-wife. In May 2022, it was reported that the former NFL player was arrested for sending threatening messages to a different woman regarding her and her children. A few months later in August 2022, Thomas’ house in Orange, Texas burned down after being hit by lightning.

It’s now been reported that also in May 2022, Earl Thomas had his identity stolen when his ex-wife Nina Heisser’s boyfriend, Kevin J. Thompson, 38, allegedly moved at least $700,000 from Thomas’ bank accounts to a Jefferson Federal Credit Union account he opened.

Thompson, of New Orleans, Louisiana, allegedly used a fake driver’s license (with his photo and Thomas’ information) to “create a phony bank account and transfer vehicle titles.” In addition, Thompson also cashed the Super Bowl champion’s NFL checks into fraudulent accounts, while also stealing from his retirement account.

According to reports, Thompson is accused of stealing about $1.9 million from the former NFL player and has been since arrested on charges of identity theft, forgery, money laundering, credit card fraud, computer fraud, and bank fraud charges. Thompson is currently free on a $730,000 bond.
