Brigitte Nielsen is aware of commentary surrounding her decision to have a child at 55.
And to those comments, she has much to say.
”There’s no such thing as ‘too old,'” the Danish actress, model and singer, who at 60 is a mother to five-year-old Frida, tells People.
“We don’t say that to men who have children in their 60s, 70s, even 80s!”
Nielsen, who played Ludmilla Vobet Drago in Rocky IV (1985) and spinoff Creed II (2018), then highlighted how Robert De Niro, 80, is a father to a seven-month-old child.
After 13 years of IVF, Nielsen fell pregnant aged 54 with her now-five-year-old daughter, Frida, who she shares with her 45-year-old husband Mattia Dessi.
The couple, who married in 2006, live with Frida in Marbella, Spain.

Nielsen actually argues her age has made her an even better parent.
“You know how kids say grandmothers are the best? I feel like I have that mindset and emotion. I have the patience and that extra bit of love to give now, and I think it’s because I’m a grandmother’s age.”

She noted how when she was a “younger mum”, she was juggling her career commitments and being single, but with Frida and the stage of life Nielsen is at now, her daughter “comes first”.
