New York Mayor Eric Adams joins the growing lists of prominent people and celebrities who have been accused of sexual assault in the last few days.
In a new bombshell legal filing, a woman accuses Adams of assaulting her in 1993. The alleged victim who filed a summons Wednesday in Manhattan Supreme Court under the Adult Survivors Act, not only named Adams, but the NYPD and the Guardian Association of the NYPD as defendants in the case. The summons which serves as a notice of a pending lawsuit reads, “Plaintiff was sexually assaulted by Defendant Eric Adams in New York, New York in 1993 while they both worked for the City of New York,” The Messenger reports.
So far, further details have not yet been made public and Adams, who’s already facing harsh scrutiny for a number of issues including major NYC budget cuts, has not yet commented.
Meanwhile, in a statement to the news outlet, a City Hall spokesperson said the mayor does not know the plaintiff in the case. “If they ever met, he doesn’t recall it,” the spokesperson said in the statement. Per the news outlet, the woman is seeking a trial and at least $5 million in relief, according to the filing.

The New York Adult Survivors Act opened a yearlong window for survivors of sexual assault to file civil suits past the statute of limitations which closes this week.

Sean “Diddy” Combs has since settled his $30M lawsuits with his ex-girlfriend just 24 hours after she initially filed. They shared the news of their mutual agreement which was reached on November 17 in separate statements, “I have decided to resolve this matter amicably on terms that I have some level of control,” Cassie said. “I want to thank my family, fans and lawyers for their unwavering support,” she added. Diddy said in his statement, “We have decided to resolve this matter amicably. I wish Cassie and her family all the best. Love.”
