Briana Culberson shut down rumors of Ozempic use on her private Instagram page days ago after she and her husband, Ryan Culberson, were accused of using the drug to lose weight.
After some of her social media followers suspected she and Ryan, who had lost a combined 150 pounds as of 2020 following two years on the keto diet, had used Ozempic, the Real Housewives of Orange County alum, 36, said that when it comes to the diabetes medication being used for weight loss, the concept goes against everything she and Ryan stand for.
“There’s been some ridiculous chatter wandering around the interwebs today following a pic of us I shared earlier today. Some people have started a rumor that we’re on Ozempic,” Briana began on Instagram. “First of all, hilarious. Second of all, I would NEVER. That goes against everything we stand for and everything we’re doing for our health and wellness.”
“I spent too many years of my life being terribly sick. Too many years of not having any respect for my health. We had no rules with food or alcohol, it was a free for all of whatever we wanted in the moment. I was on a long list of medications, admitted to the hospital OFTEN, sick, fat, and miserable,” Briana continued.
After marrying Ryan in 2011, Briana, the daughter of original RHOC cast member Vicki Gunvalson, 61, was diagnosed with lupus. And in the years since, the two of them have prioritized their health — and the health of their four children, including Troy, 11, Owen, 9, Hank, 2, and Cora, 1.
“Clean eating, clean lifestyle, daily movement, daily choices, emotional healing, and targeted high-quality supplements and essential oils have completely changed our lives inside and out,” she said. “What’s more important to me are the changes on the inside. My lupus is in remission, undetectable on labs or symptoms. I’m off all medications (with the exception of my thyroid replacement for my thyroidectomy). My health hasn’t been this good in over 20 years.”
Briana drove home the fact that she and Ryan didn’t turn to a “magic pill” or “easy fix.”
“It’s a lot of little daily choices and consistency that add up,” she said. “I’m a better mom, better wife, better friend, better person now that my health and wellness are a priority. No gimmicks, no nasty medication, just staying consistent and being intentional with my daily choices.”
“You can take that Ozempic chatter somewhere else because it ain’t here,” Briana added.
As fans may have seen, Ozempic speculation began in late October after Ryan shared a photo of himself and Briana, who has lost over 45 pounds in recent years, celebrating their 12-year wedding anniversary with a trip to Hawaii.
“Can anyone say Ozempic?” someone commented.
“You must [be] new here, welcome! There’s no shortcuts we were willing to change our lifestyle, will you?” Ryan asked in response.
Although Briana saw plenty of success with keto, she confirmed she stopped following the diet after welcoming her daughter in 2022.
“Cora and I are on a strict feeding schedule since she came a little early in a tiny package. Because there’s not a lot of research on keto and breastfeeding, our doctors have put me on a different eating plan until Cora gets bigger,” she shared at the time. “I’m not at all worried about losing weight, I’m only worried about her gaining.”
