Angie Katsanevas reacted to the “Greek mafia” rumor about her family, and she suggested Monica Garcia was “cheap” for repeating it.
On the current season of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, Monica repeated several rumors against Angie (whose father moved to America from Greece). At one point, Monica claimed Angie’s husband was cheating on her with men – according to the gossip mill.
“Greek word of the day is truth αλήθεια,” wrote Angie on Twitter after the episode aired. “Fake news is cheap to produce. The true story of the American dream is inspiring. It is one of hope hard work and perseverance. Greeks and ALL immigrants can be successful without doing it illegally.”
She also uploaded a video of herself in bed with her husband Shawn.
“Fake news is cheap,” said Angie, who then seemingly shaded Monica. “It’s cheap to produce and it’s as cheap as the people writing it and repeating it.”
Her father, who also appeared in the video, addressed his struggles after coming to America.
“Papou’s story is inspiring,” said Angie, using the Greek word for ‘grandfather.’ “And it reminds us that Greeks and all immigrants can come to America and be successful without doing it illegally or being in the Greek mafia.”

In a recent interview, Angie revealed a lesson she’s learned since joining the show.
“I’m naive, I want to be friends with everyone,” said the 50-year-old on Us Weekly’s Housewives’ Happy Hour. “I learned that everyone is not your friend, and that’s sad. I was hoping that everyone would have the same mentality as me, but it’s a little eye-opener that sadly you have to be cautious with some people … Not everyone’s your friend.”
“The biggest thing I’ve learned is don’t believe everything because people will say anything to be relevant,” added Angie, who later addressed Meredith Marks’ changing accents.
“Meredith has multiple personalities,” she said. “Today I’m British, today I’m Greek, today I’m American. I don’t know, it’s fun, good for her. Lots of role playing going on.”
She speculated that Meredith’s odd behavior might be influenced by alcohol.
“Look, I stay pretty sober while filming and just in general, so I don’t know if it’s the wine,” she said. “I don’t know what it is that brings on these accents and these personalities.”
