Here’s an interesting video to watch that explores the history of the classic 1991 sitcom Dinosaurs. The video comes from Secret Galaxy and it looks back at the show, its origins, the depth of its messages, and how it ended with one of the darkest series finales of all time.

Dinosaurs was actually a groundbreaking series that aired from 1991 to 1994. It was created by Jim Henson Productions and Michael Jacobs Productions and it offered a unique blend of live-action animatronics and puppetry, featuring a prehistoric world inhabited by anthropomorphic dinosaurs.

The Sinclair family, led by the bumbling yet lovable Earl Sinclair, navigates the challenges of daily life in the dinosaur era, which parallels the contemporary human experience. The show cleverly used humor and satire to address social and environmental issues.

The Sinclair family includes Earl’s wife Fran, their three children – Robbie, Charlene, and the baby Sinclair – and Fran’s eccentric mother, Ethyl. The puppetry and animatronics used in “Dinosaurs” were state-of-the-art for its time, bringing the characters to life in a visually impressive manner.

The central character, Earl Sinclair, works for the Wesayso Corporation, a satirical representation of corporate greed and environmental exploitation. The series explored themes of environmentalism, consumerism, and family dynamics, often drawing parallels to the real-world issues of the time.

Despite its initially lighthearted tone, Dinosaurs took a dark turn in its final episodes, addressing the consequences of environmental neglect and corporate greed. The show’s finale, “Changing Nature,” is particularly memorable for its impactful conclusion, leaving a lasting impression on viewers as it involved mass extinction.
