New Trailer for Keanu Reeves’ Guardian Angel Film GOOD FORTUNE with Seth Rogen and Aziz Ansari — GeekTyrant

Lionsgate has revealed the first official poster for the upcoming 10th installment in the Saw franchise.

The poster for Saw X shows an unnamed individual wearing what we can only assume to be one of Jigsaw’s deadly traps. The apparatus resembles a pair of heavy goggles. In lieu of lenses, however, it has what appears to be a pair of long glass tubes (aka a deathmatch pro wrestler’s best friend). These tubes intersect to form a large, stylized “X.”

Check out the poster for Saw X below:

What is Saw X about?

Saw X opens in theaters late this coming September. The horror film is directed by Kevin Greutert from a screenplay by Peter Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg. It stars Tobin Bell, who reprises his iconic role of John Kramer/Jigsaw. Additional cast members include Shawnee Smith, Synnøve Macody Lund, Steven Brand, Michael Beach, Renata Vaca, Paulette Hernandez, Joshua Okamoto, and Octavio Hinojosa.

Notably, the latest Saw film is actually not a sequel to any of the more recent installments. Rather, Saw X takes place in between the events of Saw (2004) and Saw II (2005). A full official synopsis reads as follows: “John Kramer (Tobin Bell) is back. The most chilling installment of the SAW franchise yet explores the untold chapter of Jigsaw’s most personal game. Set between the events of SAW I and II, a sick and desperate John travels to Mexico for a risky and experimental medical procedure in hopes of a miracle cure for his cancer — only to discover the entire operation is a scam to defraud the most vulnerable. Armed with a newfound purpose, John returns to his work, turning the tables on the con artists in his signature visceral way through a series of ingenious and terrifying traps.”

The Saw franchise so far

Saw began life as a 2003 short film written by Leigh Whannell and directed by James Wan. Whannell and Wan returned to respectively write and direct 2004’s Saw, a feature-length adaptation of their original short. The first main installment in the Saw franchise would also be the last to be helmed by Wan.

Nevertheless, the aforementioned Saw II hit theaters just one year later. A number of additional sequels followed — namely, Saw III (2006), Saw IV (2007), Saw V (2008), Saw VI (2009), and Saw 3D (2010). Saw 3D, the seventh feature-length entry in the franchise, was also initially billed as “The Final Chapter.” However, an eighth film, Jigsaw, eventually released in 2017. The ninth installment came in the form of the 2021 spin-off film Spiral: From the Book of Saw. Spiral is the only film in the series to not feature a physical appearance by Bell’s John Kramer.

Saw X opens in theaters on Sept. 29.
