Last year, it was announced that the Powerpuff Girls was getting a series at The CW, simply titled Powerpuff. The show would have caught up with Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, “who used to be America’s pint-sized superheroes but now are disillusioned twentysomethings who resent having lost their childhood to crime-fighting. Will they agree to reunite now that the world needs them more than ever?”

No, no they wont, because it was announced that the series was canceled a few months ago. The cast included Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Chloe Bennet as Blossom, Descendants actress Dove Cameron as Bubbles, Broadway vet Yana Perrault as Buttercup, and Scrubs‘ Donald Faison as Professor Utonium.

Cameron has now spoken out about what the series would have looked like, telling Elle:

“Let me just say that what we shot, I loved, and that was one of the most fun things, and I think whatever you thought it was gonna be, it wasn’t gonna be that, and it was very campy and very sexy and very fun, and I love Diablo Cody.”

The series, which followed the girls as “disillusioned twentysomethings who regret spending their youth fighting criminals,” underwent a lot of changes before being thrown out altogether. It’s too bad that Cameron had a good experience, but wasn’t able to see it through. I’m sure there would have been some sort of audience for the series, but I also don’t know anyone who was particularly pumped for it either.

Were you planning on watching Powerpuff?
