Congratulations to Marques Houston and his wife, Miya, who have announced the birth of their baby boy.
It looks like Christmas came early for the couple after taking to Instagram on Wednesday (December 27) to reveal that their latest addition to the family had arrived earlier this month.
Marques Houston’s Joyful Announcement
“On December 13th we welcomed our sweet baby boy. We are so in love and couldn’t feel more complete,” the caption read. “Greyson Houston. Born December 13, 2023. 6lbs 2oz.”
The heartfelt post included four images of the family with their daughter, Zara, as well as their newborn son, all dressed in color-coordinated outfits.
The Houstons must have a thing for welcoming babies in December, as Greyson‘s arrival comes just two years after they welcomed Zara on December 2.
It was just in late November when the ‘Clubbin’ rapper told his followers how he couldn’t wait for the arrival of their son. Houston can be seen caressing a heavily pregnant Miya’s stomach in the carousel photos with Zara sitting in the front.
Marques And Miya’s Relationship
The pair first met at a Jehovah’s Witness event in 2018 and got engaged five months later. But it wouldn’t be until August 2020 when they decided to get married in Corona, California.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the ‘You Got Served’ star and his wife were forced to downsize their guest list. This meant that only a small number of family and friends could attend.
In an interview with Rolling Out, Miya revealed that her religious upbringing stemmed from her grandparents who primarily raised her while growing up in San Bernardino, California.
It was her and Marques’ love for their religion that had instantly drawn them to one another, she said.
Controversy Surrounding Their Age Gap
News of the pair’s relationship led to quite the conversation on social media, with many quick to point out the noticeable age gap between Miya and Marques. The Tubi actor would have been 37 when he met his wife, who was 18 at the time.
However, during her candid interview with the aforementioned magazine, Miya cleared up the rumors that suggested she might have been underage when she pursued a romance with her man. She denounced the claims by stressing that their relationship didn’t come about until she was legally of age.
“We definitely didn’t date until I was 18, and when I was 19, we got engaged,” she shared. “The internet has my birthday totally wrong. My date of birth is Oct. 7, 2000. We dated less than two years and then we got married. For the record, I am currently 20 years old.”
She also dispelled rumors that she and Marques might have been sexually active before their marriage.
The mother of two, when questioned about why people could find her answer hard to believe, expressed that current relationships being solely based on sex could be the reason. “Because it’s so not normal now to be in a relationship without it being sexual,” she added. “It’s just not typical of the way people date in the world.”
Five years later, though, Marques and Miya are still going strong, and the arrival of baby number two is a testament to that.
