Skrillex was Beatport’s top-selling artist of 2023, the music marketplace has revealed.
The dubstep icon, who was recently named one of EDM.com’s best music producers of the year, took the top spot in both the sales and streaming charts after releasing a pair of dazzling albums, Quest for Fire and Don’t Get Too Close.
Following Skrillex in Beatport’s list of the year’s 10 best-selling artists are Fred again.., FISHER, Anyma, David Guetta, Dom Dolla, John Summit, Kevin McKay, Chris Lake and Hugel.
Meanwhile, the hardware for Beatport’s most-streamed track of 2023 went to the Australian superstar FISHER, whose global house hit “Take It Off” pervaded the live music circuit en route to being named one of EDM.com’s best songs of the year. House music dominated that list as Mau P’s “Gimme That Bounce” took the second spot, followed by Skrillex, Fred again.. and Four Tet’s “Baby again..,” Westend and Noizu’s “Push to Start,” and John Summit’s “Where You Are.”
Elsewhere in the “Beatport Insider” report, Toolroom Records was named the platform’s best-selling label. Mark Knight’s venerated house music imprint came out on top ahead of Afterlife, Insomniac Records, Glasgow Underground and Drumcode, among others.
