Beverly Hills 90210 star Ian Ziering is finally speaking out after a violent altercation with a biker gang on New Year’s Eve. The actor revealed that the incident left him very “concerned” but that he was “thankful” to come out of it “unscathed.”
In a video clip of the incident, Ziering’s vehicle could be seen seemingly surrounded by several bike riders. After getting into an altercation with one of them, others descended on the actor, leading to the public brawl.
Ian Ziering Speaks Out After Biker Gang Attack
Ziering probably didn’t plan to end his 2023 by getting into a fight with a biker gang. However, that is precisely what happened when the “Sharknado” star got into a brutal brawl with a group of mini-bike riders on Hollywood Boulevard.
Speaking out about the incident, Ziering, who was with one of his daughters, revealed how shocked he was by the violent attack.
He said, “Yesterday, I experienced an alarming incident involving a group of individuals on mini bikes. While stuck in traffic, my car was approached aggressively by one of these riders leading to an unsettling confrontation. In an attempt to assess any damage I exited my car. This action, unfortunately, escalated into a physical altercation, which I navigated to protect myself.”
According to a video of the incident obtained by TMZ, Ziering’s car was seemingly surrounded by a group of bikers. After exiting his vehicle, the actor got into a heated exchange with one of the bikers, which quickly turned into a physical fight.
Ian Ziering Says He And His Daughter Are ‘Unscathed’
In Ziering’s statement, he noted that he and his daughter, Mia, were safe and “unscathed” but emphasized how concerned he was by the “growing boldness” of groups that cause a public nuisance. In one of the videos shared by TMZ, the actor could be seen comforting his daughter, who looked upset after witnessing what happened.
“I am relieved to report that my daughter and I are both completely unscathed, but the incident has left me deeply concerned about the growing boldness of such groups who disrupt public safety and peace,” Ziering stated. “This situation highlights a larger issue of hooliganism on our streets and the need for effective law enforcement responses to such behavior.”
He continued, “As a citizen and a parent, I find it unacceptable that groups can freely engage in this kind of behavior, causing fear and chaos, while the response from authorities seems insufficient.”
Ziering added that he has always “been an advocate for standing up against intimidation and misconduct” and that the fight with the biker gang reinforced his “belief in the importance of personal and community safety.”
The Actor Wants Law Enforcement To Step Up To The Plate
Ziering continued his lengthy post, asking that law enforcement officers take a proper stand against lawlessness and violence in order to ensure that no one goes through what he and his daughter went through.
“We must address the underlying issues that lead to such disruptive behavior and ensure that our streets are safe for everyone. I urge city officials and law enforcement to take decisive action against such lawlessness and provide the necessary resources to prevent future occurrences,” Ziering stated on his Instagram page.
He continued, “I am thankful for the support of my family, friends, and fans during this time. It’s in challenging moments like these that the strength and unity of our community are most vital. Happy New Year.”
According to KTLA (per People Magazine), the L.A. Police Department verified that on Sunday at around 3 p.m. local time, officers were called to the scene at Hollywood Blvd and Highland Ave. due to “reports of a fight that broke out after the group of bikers were driving recklessly.”
The alleged fight is currently under police investigation.
