Bad news for Rage Against the Machine fans. According to their drummer Brad Wilk, the rap-metal crew “will not be touring or playing live again.”

Rage were forced to cancel the 2023 leg of their reunion tour, which had already undergone multiple pandemic-related postponements, after frontman Zack de la Rocha injured his leg in Chicago in July 2022, early in the trek. News of the cancelation arrived in October of 2022, and since then there’s been no word on new or rescheduled dates.

Wilk has now posted a statement saying not to expect future shows. “I know a lot of people are waiting for us to announce new tour dates for all the canceled RATM shows,” he wrote on his personal social media. “I don’t want to string people or myself along any further. So while there has been some communication that this may be happening in the future… I want to let you know that RATM (Tim, Zack, Tom and I) will not be touring or playing live again. I’m sorry for those of you who have been waiting for this to happen. I really wish it was…”

RATM guitarist Tom Morello previously was asked if the band were on hiatus in an interview with Rolling Stone in 2023, and said at the time, “if Rage Against the Machine was going on a hiatus, Rage Against the Machine would say, ‘We’re going on a hiatus.’ That has not happened.”

RATM were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame last November, but notably, Morello accepted the award solo on the group’s behalf. Wilk, de la Rocha, and bassist Tim Commerford did not even attend.
