Deobra Redden, the flying felon who was seen on video launching a violent attack on Judge Mary Kay Holthus is now paying the price for his behavior.

As a consequence of his actions, Redden now faces additional charges and has been placed in solitary confinement. Law enforcement sources reveal that Redden’s outburst occurred when he leaped over the bench and physically assaulted Judge Holthus. He punched her in the head and pulled her hair, prompting court staffers to rush to her aid. The attack left the judge shaken but fortunately mostly unharmed. However, another court employee suffered a severe head injury, requiring 25 stitches to close a gash.

Following the assault, Redden was immediately classified as a “2C” inmate, the most restrictive classification in the Clark County Jail, TMZ repost. This designation has led to his isolation in a solo cell, where he has no interactions with other inmates. Redden’s meals are served inside his cell, and his time outside is strictly limited. The move aims to ensure the safety of both Redden and others within the correctional facility. In a new statement, Judge Mary Kay Holthus said,

“I am extremely grateful to those who took brave action during the attack.”

Background and Motive:

Redden’s presence in court was due to a previous conviction for attempted battery with substantial bodily harm. His attorney had requested parole, but Judge Holthus opted to sentence the three-time felon instead. This decision seemingly triggered Redden’s violent reaction, leading to the attack on the judge. The incident highlights the potential dangers faced by those working within the criminal justice system.

In addition to the charges stemming from his initial conviction, Redden now faces a string of new felonies related to the attack. These include coercion with force or threat of force, extortion, intimidating public officers or others with the use of force, disregard of the safety of person or property, and battery by a prisoner, probationer, or parolee. The severity of these charges reflects the gravity of Redden’s actions and the potential consequences he may face.

While in solitary, Deobra Redden has a lot to think about and hopefully prepared an apology for the judge when he meets her face to face on Monday for court.
