Iconic Italian horror film director Dario Argento is the subject of a new documentary film titled Dario Argento Panico, which was picked up by Shudder. A new trailer was released and features interviews with notable filmmakers and talent that help paint a portrait of the fimmaker and his accomplishments.

The Dario Argento Panico synopsis reads: “In the secluded ambiance of hotel rooms, Dario Argento crafted his greatest cinematic creations, seeking solace from the outside world to delve into his nightmares. Now, he finds himself in a hotel room to return to the very setting that ignited his creative fervor to conclude his latest script and participate in an intimate interview, all while being followed by a film crew documenting his life for a movie about his illustrious career.”

The doc is described as “an immersive deep dive into the creative process and life of Argento and features exclusive interviews with the legendary filmmaker and insight from other acclaimed directors like Gaspar Noé, Guillermo del Toro and Nicolas Winding Refn about his impact on the horror genre and generations of other directors.”

Argento’s Suspiria was the movie that got me into Italian horror cinema. That led me down a crazy rabbit hole of Italian horror cinema, and some of the films that I discovered will haunt me until the day I die.
