‘RHOSLC’ Monica Garcia’s Ex Mike Was Arrested for Slapping Her

Monica Garcia accused her ex-husband, Mike Fowler, of “slapping her across the face” while three of her children were at home following a 2021 incident that resulted in his domestic violence arrest.

Days after the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City cast member, 40, took to her Instagram page, where she confirmed that she and Mike, 45, split not due to her 18-month affair with her brother-in-law, but due to his domestic violence, a shocking police report has been revealed.

According to a police report shared by The U.S. Sun on January 16, Monica called the police on Mike on March 5, 2021, at around 11:30 p.m. after he “hit her” following a tense dinner in which they began “arguing about some of the people that she had been associating with.”

Following the outing, Monica’s argument with Mike “got worse.”

“And that’s when he slapped her across the face,” the police report stated, noting that Monica’s oldest daughter, Bri, now 18, saw the encounter play out.

Bri “heard the assault and the arguing between Monica and Michael,” the report explained.

While Monica and Mike’s two youngest children, West and Kendall, who were five and three at the time, were also home, they were said to have been asleep when their dad allegedly hit their mom.

As the report explained, Mike told Monica to hang up her phone after seeing she called 911. Then, when she refused, he grabbed it and she “locked herself into a back room,” where she called from her Apple watch.

“Dispatch advised that the complainant stated that her husband had hit her and now she was hiding in a bedroom,” the police reported. “Dispatch stated that they could hear the female yelling for him to get away from her.”

After Monica exited the room following the arrival of police, she claimed “she was afraid of Michael and what he would do if she disobeyed him,” and Mike was arrested.

According to the report, Mike was charged with “DVAS (domestic violence assault), DVPC (domestic violence in presence of child) and ELDV (interruption of a communication device),” and the Division of Child and Family Services was notified about the encounter.

After spending a few days in jail, Mike pled guilty to assault, and the other charges against him were dismissed. In turn, he was sentenced to 12 months probation, ordered to pay $1,070 in fines, and required to complete a parenting class, counseling sessions, and 16 weeks of domestic violence anger management classes.

As RHOSLC fans may have seen, Monica opened up about Mike’s domestic violence against her in an Instagram post shared last week.

“The reason for our divorce was because of domestic violence,” she explained. “My ex was arrested a couple of times for domestic violence on me in front of our girls and violations of protective orders.”

As for Monica’s potential return to RHOSLC, which many have felt will not happen due to her involvement with the Instagram troll account Reality Von Tease, an insider revealed that nothing has been decided quite yet.

“Monica hasn’t heard from Bravo yet,” the source told The U.S. Sun. “She’s been left in the dark and believes they’re waiting to see more of the public’s opinion during the reunion before making a decision.”
