Katharine McPhee had to cancel shows with husband David Foster after a “horrible family tragedy”.

Katharine McPhee was forced to pull out of her remaining tour dates in Asia after a “horrible family tragedy”.

TMZ reports that the family’s nanny died unexpectedly, and the singer had to rush back home to the US. She was in Asia on tour with her husband, David Foster.

It’s unclear whether the couple’s two-year-old, Renniewas with them or with his nanny at the time of her alleged passing.

Fans were concerned earlier this week when McPhee announced her sudden departure from the David Foster & Friends tour. “Dearest Jakarta fans, it’s with heavy heart I announce I have to miss our final two shows of our Asia run,” the 39-year-old singer wrote in a statement on Instagram.

“David and I have had a horrible tragedy in our family and at least one of us need to get back home to our family,” she continued before issuing an apology to concertgoers.

“Please know how sorry I am and how much I wish to return one day and perform for you all,” McPhee concluded. “Love Katharine.”

Foster, 73, will still perform the final two dates in Indonesia.

Foster is also the father of daughters Allison, 52, Amy, 49, Sara, 41, Erin, 40, and Jordan, 36, from previous relationships.

McPhee and Foster married in 2019, and frequently perform onstage together. The pair had been dating since May 2017 after Foster’s divorce from Yolanda Hadid.

The Smash star is keen to have more kids sometime in the future, telling Jennifer Hudson Show viewers in January that while she “would love” to welcome baby number two, she is not in “any rush” to conceive.

“We’ll see,” she said at the time. “I hope so because I love being a mom. I really love it.”
