King Charles III has reportedly been diagnosed with cancer shortly after he was hospitalized for an “enlarged prostate.”
According to a statement by Buckingham Palace, the king will be taking some time off his royal duties to focus on his health and quickly begin treatment.
King Charles Has Been Diagnosed With Cancer
Shortly after his release from the London Clinic following his “enlarged prostate” diagnosis, it’s been revealed that King Charles has cancer.
However, a statement from Buckingham Palace notes that the king’s cancer diagnosis is not related to his “enlarged prostate” surgery, and neither is it prostate cancer. In fact, the cancer was discovered during his recent treatment at the London Clinic.
“During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer,” the Buckingham Palace statement read.
It continued, “His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties. Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual.”
The palace’s statement further noted that “The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure. He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible.”
“His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer,” it concluded.
It should be noted that the type of cancer has not yet been disclosed.
