A lot of fans are excited about Marvel’s X-Men ’97 animated series. It seems like it’s been in development forever, but one day it will be released and we’ll be able to enjoy what it has to offer. While we wait for that, we’ve got some new art to share with you today from the series that features the main characters in the series.

The characters featured include Jean Grey, Cyclops, Storm, Wolverine, Beast, Gambit, Jubilee, Sunspot, Morph, Rogue, Bishop, and the Master of Magnetism, Magneto.

The official synopsis for the series reads: “Storm and Wolverine try to continue the X-Men. Magneto comes in and wants to step up for Charles Xavier. Sinister comes in to try to end the X-Men once and for all.” There are also some additional rumored details that you can read here if you want.

The series starts with Magneto and the X-Men after Professor X left for Shi’ar space in the original show’s series finale. The series brings back the original voice cast including Cal Dodd (Wolverine), Lenore Zann (Rogue), George Buza (Beast), Alison Sealy-Smith (Storm), Chris Potter (Gambit), Catherine Disher (Jean Grey), Adrian Hough (Nightcrawler), and Christopher Britton (Minister Sinister).

The series has been described as “a spiritual and tonal continuation of the classic 1990s series that aired on Fox,” and a “retro love letter to the original.”

Beau DeMayo is the head writer and executive producer of X-Men ’97. Jake Castorena is the supervising director and Charley Feldman is the supervising producer. X-Men ’97 is currently scheduled to premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2024. Season 2 is also currently in development.
