Adult Swim has released the first clip for the highly-anticipated animated series Rick and Morty: The Anime. While we won’t be seeing Rick and Morty Season 8 this year, we will be seeing Rick and Morty: The Anime, which looks pretty freakin’ fantastic! I loved the first trailer that was released.
In this first clip, we see Rick on an alien planet with Morty standing quietly by his grandfather’s side. Rick takes a swig of alcohol and then starts talking about life and the choices we make in it, saying:
“Despite the fact there are an infinite number of paths available to us, we only get one life to pick from. It’s pretty dumb, huh? And the dumbest part of it all is that we’re the ones who chose it for ourselves. At least in my case, anyways.”
Not only is the animation style anime but so is the writing, I love it! The series was directed by Takashi Sano, and when talking about it, he said: “What I’ve tried to accomplish with these 10 episodes is to take all my favorite parts of watching Rick and Morty, compress the down to extract their essence, and then add a unique Japanese twist. I’d like you to enjoy Rick and Morty’s adventures as they are wisked through time and space, tangled up in all sorts of chaos.”
He added: “The multiverse-straddling exploits of Rick and the gang pose challenges to the family bond, but they always rise to the occasion. It’s such a life-affirming sight, and Jerry is no exception. I am honored to have been given an opportunity to tell a new story about this amazing family. I hope you enjoy their adventures!”
Rick and Morty: The Anime is coning this year in 2024.
