Bocchi the Rock took the world by storm in 2023 with its lovable characters and engaging storyline. It was a success, with an IMDB rating of 8.6/10, surpassing other popular titles. The series won major awards and was recently nominated for the Crunchyroll Anime of the Year Award.

The story centers around a socially awkward girl, Hitori Gotoh, who wants to become a rock musician despite her struggles. She is suddenly given a chance to do so after meeting Nijika Ijichi, who invites her to join her newly-formed Kessuko Band. For fans of the series, ComingSoon has here listed the best anime shows that are similar to Bochhi the Rock and equally enjoyable as well.

Set in Mars, Carole and Tuesday is a memorable series with a unique spin on the music industry. Unlike Bocchi the Rock, the anime adopts a mature perspective towards the world of professional musicians. The anime follows Tuesday, a wealthy lady who runs away from home to pursue her dream of becoming a musician. She meets Carole, an aspiring pianist, who is a refugee from Earth. Together, they form a singer-songwriter duo under the name Carole & Tuesday.

K-On

K-On is one of the funniest anime shows with a large, dedicated fan base. The series won the Best Animation Award at the Tokyo Anime Awards 2010. The story traces Yui Hirasawa’s experiences as part of a music band. A young high school student, Yui accidentally joins the Light Music Club without knowing what it is about. After finding out, she decides to leave as she is not skilled at playing sophisticated instruments. However, the club keeps losing members, so they do everything to convince Yui to stay.

Kimi ni Todoke

Kimi no Todoke focuses on Sawako Kuronuma, a timid high school girl often misunderstood by her classmates. Despite her kind demeanor, Sawako is made fun of due to her ominous appearance. Hence, she aspires to be like Shouta Kazehaya, a popular student with many friends. Like Bocchii, Sawako tries her best to change herself into someone confident and able to express herself. The series encompasses her relationship with Kazehaya and how they eventually end up together.

Komi Can’t Communicate

In recent years, Komi Can’t Communicate has often been dubbed one of the best high school anime shows. It is perfect for viewers looking for a hilarious and heartwarming story. Although it lacks the musical elements of Bocchi the Rock!, the protagonists, Komi and Hitori, struggle with the same issues.

Komi is the prettiest girl in her class, but she suffers from crippling social anxiety and communication issues. Her anxiety makes it difficult for her to socialize with her classmates. However, her life changes after she finally communicates effectively with Tadano through writing. The two form a wonderful friendship as he promises to help her with her goal of making a hundred friends.
