A video is going viral showing a Chicago rideshare driver picking up a young woman and within seconds his vehicle gets shot at.

According to timestamps on the viral video, the incident went down on Sunday (March 17) at 11:58 p.m. From the coordinates shown in the video, the driver was picking up a passenger on the 4200 block of West Gladys Avenue in the West Garfield Park neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois.
The viral clip begins with the Chicago rideshare driver, an older Black man sporting a sweatshirt and beanie, looking around the outside of his vehicle, waiting for his passenger, but also remaining aware of his surroundings. Soon, the back passenger door opens and a woman, who appears to be between the ages of 20-30, climbs inside the car sporting all black and carrying a purple duffle bag.

After the woman closes the door, the driver looks down at his phone and reads the name “Diamond,” as shown in his rideshare app. She confirms herself as the passenger requesting the ride by saying, “Yeah,” and then immediately ducks down into her seat, yelling at the driver, “Go, go go! He’s finna shoot up the car.” The driver, completely lost and taken aback, asks, “Shoot up the car?” Diamond yells, “Yeah, go!” Less than a second later, viewers can hear two shots being fired from outside the car.
As the Chicago rideshare driver slams on the gas and pulls away, viewers can see from out of the front passenger window a man running with the car from the sidewalk. He is sporting a dark hoodie and light pants. While the driver is completely bewildered and trying to escape the shots, he yells out “What the f**k is that?” The young woman continues to slouch down into the backseat and yells, “Go!” Throughout this time she appears to smile and pulls up her phone as the driver recklessly runs over speed bumps, rushing his way down the block, and away from the shooter.

The Chicago rideshare driver again asks the woman, “What the f**k was that?,” and she says, “He just shot at the car!” Frantically, the driver asks, “For what?!” The woman then says, “Let me call the police,” which prompts the driver to become even more pissed off. Having experienced more than enough excitement within the last 30 seconds, exhausted, he yells out, “Man, f**k this sh*t!”
The woman tries to calm and reassure him that things will be ok, reiterating, “Let me call the police, sir.” Recklessly running over another speed bump, the driver lets out a loud and long sigh while shaking his head. After about 50 seconds, the clip ends with the driver just shaking his head and getting ready to turn down another street.
At the time of publishing, there are no further details on the shooting or status of the Chicago rideshare driver and his young female passenger. Story developing.
