Lynda Carter didn’t have the Golden Lasso of Truth surrounding her. But what she said about a possible Wonder Woman 3 makes sense.

Carter spoke to Yahoo! Entertainment and said that she thinks the only way a Wonder Woman 3 will ever get made is if there’s a fan demand and outcry.

“I don’t think they want to do it unless there’s enough pressure from fans,” said Carter. “I just don’t think they have the mind to do it. And I don’t understand that, because it seems to me that Wonder Woman is different from other characters. She’s not just a superhero. Her whole thing is about peaceful solutions. She’s not aggressive to be aggressive. It’s a different story. It’s about inner strength, outer strength. I don’t know why they tabled it, because it’s a great franchise.”

Carter, who played Wonder Woman in the TV series during the 1970s, lamented that DC Studios killed the plans for a third film in 2022. Director Patty Jenkins was working on something that “was really interesting, wonderful and about something important,” Carter said. “Not just your typical thing. But they don’t want anyone else to make it.”

Jenkins herself said this month that Wonder Woman 3 is dead “for the time being, easily forever.”

Carter appeared as the warrior Asteria in the sequel Wonder Woman 1984, which came out in 2020, and was set to appear in the third film.

“I have to give a lot of credit to Patty and Gal because the interest in my show had peaked when they came on the scene” Carter said. Their vision “was intentional — and how I played the character was intentional. To be good, kind, strong and do everything for the right reasons. Even when she was angry, she was angry at the right people.”

Wonder Woman “represents who we really are inside,” she said. “We are strong and beautiful at all ages. We are powerful, loving and kind. That’s the essence of us.”

Carter was never jealous about having Gal Gadot assume the role.

“We all embraced each other and we’re very good friends,” said Carter, who’s in a group text chat with Jenkins and Gadot. “We took the steam right out. ‘No, we love each other.’ ‘Oh, darn.’ Sharing that legacy with someone is wonderful.”
