Mark Furmie’s latest film venture, The Weight of Darkness, has enlisted the names of Angus Macfadyen (Braveheart), Jamie King (Sin City), Doug Jones (The Shape Of Water), Corbin Bernsen (LA Law), and Angus Benfield (Inventing Anna) to join the action-thriller.

According to Deadline, production for the Terminus’ director’s newest project is currently underway in Los Angeles. Apart from the impressive cast, the film will also mark the first collaboration between Benfield’s Lama Entertainment and Furmie’s Rezistor Films. In addition to starring, Benfield is also on board to produce the film along with Simone Bonser.

What is The Weight of Darkness about?

Nothing much has been revealed about The Weight of Darkness as of yet, but it was reported that the film will center around Benfield’s Mark Besson, a psychiatrist trying to change the public health system for the better. Jones’s John Gatlin will then help Mark in his mission. However, when her daughter suddenly went missing, shadowy conspiracies would soon unravel, forcing Mark and his estranged brother Jim (Macfadyen) to face their dark past.

The synopsis (via Deadline) reads: “Mark’s world is soon rocked by tragedy when his young daughter Emma goes missing at a social event for victims of PTSD. Despite the efforts of the Sheriff Eli Watson (Bernson) and his deputy, Emma remains missing. Mark’s estranged brother, Jim (Macfadyen), a church pastor, agrees to help an undocumented mother find her missing daughter, leading him to unravel a shadowy conspiracy that may lead to Emma’s whereabouts. The Besson brothers are soon forced to face the demons of their past, reconcile their differences and unite to find both children, uncovering a sinister underworld of unspeakable evil in the process.”

Apart from the plot details and cast members joining the film, other details about The Weight of Darkness remain under wraps, including the release window.
