Patrick Mahomes’ Dad Officially Charged With A Felony After Being Arrested On DWI Suspicion
Back in February, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ father was hit with his third DWI charge after being arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. The 53-year-old was placed behind bars over the weekend due to the charge.
The charge, a third-degree DWI or more, specifies, “After two DWI convictions, a third DWI offense (habitual DWI) is a Third-Degree Felony. The maximum fine is $10,000.00, and the maximum prison sentence is 10 years in a Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) penitentiary.”

“A conviction for a third DWI will result in a minimum prison sentence of two years and a maximum of ten years in prison (not a county jail). Even if you are granted probation, you will have to serve at least ten days in jail as part of a plea agreement. This usually cannot be waived,” it further states.
According to a filing, Mahomes has officially been charged with a third-degree felony and awaits a trial.
Prior to his arrest in 2024, Mahomes was arrested back in 2018 for a second driving while intoxicated, according to jail records. He served a 40-day sentence on weekends from February 2019 to February 2020.
Due to his multiple arrests, Mahomes has several mugshots in the system.
