Michelle Lally is opening up about the reasons she split from her estranged husband Jesse Lally.
During an Instagram Live session, The Valley star claimed her husband Jesse was “always on his phone” at dinners, and she added that she didn’t feel “financially secure” in their marriage.
Additionally, Michelle, 36, also claimed Jesse, 43, felt like a “friend next to me,” and she hinted at “major issues” that played a part in the separation.
Amid the current season, some fans have accused Michelle of looking ‘checked out’ in her marriage, speculating that she had no desire to save the relationship. In many of the episodes, Jesse seems determined to keep the family together, and he attended a spiritual retreat in an attempt to lose his ego.
“I feel like I didn’t have that support from him, and I felt very alone. And even being married, I just felt like a single mom because he wasn’t present,” said Michelle of her marriage on an Instagram Live. “And even when he was around, I just never felt like I had a partner in the last couple years.”
“If we had dinner, he was always on his phone,” she went on. “It wasn’t like one-to-one … It just didn’t feel like a marriage or partnership. It just felt like there was just a friend next to me.”
She also claimed she didn’t feel “financially secure” because Jesse was a “spender” who loved to travel and drink a bunch of “expensive wine.”
“We weren’t growing together,” explained Michelle, who said she stopped drinking as much when she became a mom, while Jesse “drank a lot more than me.”
According to Michelle, they had “so many major issues” that people don’t see on the show. This is why she looks “checked out.”
The Valley airs Tuesday nights on Bravo at 9/8c.
