Metro Boomin is here to assist Rod Wave in his quest to get some “Future-type beats” for his next body of work.

Putting out his call to action in a since-deleted post to Twitter/X on Thursday (May 16), the Florida singer requested that producers stop sending him “sad” beats and instead the type of vibes Future would jump on – something Metro obviously knows very well.

“Stop sending me dem sad ass beats dat shit ova I need some future type shit,” Rod wrote.

Metro retweeted the post and responded “let’s goooooooo” with fire emojis.

Metro Boomin has been super busy in 2024. In addition to the collaborations with Future on We Don’t Trust You and its follow-up We Still Don’t Trust You, the super-producer recently teamed up with The Alchemist and Kevin Durant to create their sneaker collections with Nike.

Metro’s shoe — aptly called the KD 17 “Metro Boomin” — pays homage to the producer’s blockbuster album Heroes & Villains with an electrifying, purple-and-blue design.

The tongue is also a nod to his previous album, 2018’s Not All Heroes Wear Capes, and its jumping man silhouette, while the left heel features a purple “Leslie” signature, honoring Metro’s late mother.

The Alchemist’s shoe — the KD 17 “The Alchemist” — features his ALC Records logo on the tongue and comes in a Coconut Milk colorway, with splashes of Atomic Violet and Hyper Grape.

The unique kicks come courtesy of Durant’s “Producer Series,” which highlights his love of the sonic architects behind the culture.

The Nike KD 17 is hit shelves on May 17 in the standard “Sunset” colorway. The “Producer Series” styles are expected to follow in the coming months, retailing for $160 each.

Rod Wave has also been booked and busy with his consistently growing career. And earlier this year, he revealed he wouldn’t been in the game at all if it wasn’t for a woman he once dated who was obsessed with NBA YoungBoy.

Talking to his fans on an Instagram Live in January, Rod recalled the pre-fame relationship that ultimately inspired him to turn things up with music.

“One of my girls I used to fuck with, she was so fucking in love with NBA YoungBoy,” he began. “I was like 17 years old living in my own crib. I remember she was just so fucked up about bro. And I just used to be in my living room watching bro’s videos and shit and I used to be like damn, he’s turned up. So I tried to turn it up. That’s real shit.”

He continued: “And now we here. It’s crazy bruh how much a n-gga took and just used it. Like damn. That’s what made me take shit serious though, like just seeing other n-ggas. That shit inspired me.”
