These days, Elizabeth Olsen is well known for her role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Since 2014, she’s played Wanda Maximoff, aka Scarlet Witch.
In total, she’s appeared (or voiced Wanda) in six MCU films and her critically acclaimed 2021 miniseries Wandavision.
While Elizabeth has moved on to her first major non-MCU project this year with the Max miniseries Love & Death, there was also a time before Marvel — a time when she was better known as an indie film actor.
It’s definitely a major transition, going from an indie actor to a big-budget superhero. It can even be considered controversial, as Florence Pugh recently divulged regarding her own decision to enter into the MCU.
But it doesn’t seem that Elizabeth has any regrets about joining the MCU. In fact, she recently opened up in an interview about what she tells other actors who are considering joining the juggernaut film franchise.
Elizabeth’s answer was so honest and direct.
“Just give them one,” she said.
“That way, you have more control over — let’s say you’re like, ‘Oh my god, this was the most fun I’ve ever had, and I love this character so much, I want to do it again.’ You now have more creative control for the next one.”
Honestly, that’s fantastic advice, not just for actors but for life in general. Not sure if you should go on that blind date? Just give them one (try). Not sure if you should reach out to an old pal after all these years? Just give them one (friendly text).
