Miley Cyrus, the former Disney star who scored a hit single earlier this year with “Flowers,” has revealed that she has no intention of going on tour and performing in front of thousands of fans. In an interview with British Vogue, Cyrus expressed her lack of desire to embark on a tour, reflecting on her last headline arena show in 2014.
“It’s been a minute,” Cyrus stated. “After the last show I did, I kind of looked at it as more of a question. And I can’t.” She emphasized that it’s not just a matter of capability but also her personal desire. She questioned whether she wants to live her life to please others or fulfill their expectations rather than her own.
Cyrus previously shared her love for performing in intimate settings for friends. She explained, “Like singing for hundreds of thousands of people isn’t really the thing that I love. There’s no connection. There’s no safety.” She further described the experience as isolating, expressing that being in front of a massive crowd of 100,000 people can make one feel alone.
It has been almost a decade since Cyrus embarked on a world tour. Her last tour was the Bangerz Tour in 2014, which consisted of 78 shows across various countries. Since then, she has scaled back on her musical tours. In 2015, she performed eight shows in the U.S. and Canada as part of the Milky Milk Milk Tour. In 2019, she embarked on the Festival Tour, covering cities in Europe. Last year, Cyrus held the Attention Tour, which included five shows in South American cities such as Buenos Aires, Argentina, and São Paulo, Brazil.
Cyrus’s decision to refrain from large-scale tours reflects her desire for a more personal and connected experience with her music. While fans may be disappointed not to see her perform live on a grand stage, Cyrus remains focused on pursuing a path that aligns with her artistic vision and personal fulfillment.
