Temuera Morrison is poised to make his return to the beloved Star Wars franchise with the upcoming Disney Plus series Ahsoka. As reported by One Take News, Morrison is reprising his role as the fan-favorite character Captain Rex. However, the exact nature of his appearance, whether through flashbacks or in present time, remains shrouded in mystery.
Ahsoka, the brainchild of creator and showrunner Dave Filoni, centers around the iconic character Ahsoka Tano, portrayed by Rosario Dawson. Dee Bradley Baker’s portrayal of Captain Rex in previous Star Wars installments, most notably in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, has garnered a dedicated following, but Temuera Morrison is taking over the role for Ahsoka.
Developed by Dave Filoni, Ahsoka is a spin-off from the popular Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series, which followed the adventures of Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker and his apprentice Ahsoka Tano during the Clone Wars. Ahsoka quickly became an icon and the character has since been featured in other Star Wars projects, including the animated series Star Wars Rebels and the live-action Disney Plus shows.
The Ahsoka Tano series is being developed by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni. The latter co-created Ahsoka alongside George Lucas, with the heroine making her first apppearance in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
The cast of the Ahsoka Tano series includes Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger and Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, a.k.a. Darth Vader. Ivanna Sakhno and Ray Stevenson round out the cast.
Ahsoka debuts in August 2023 on Disney Plus. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the Star Wars universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
