Snoop Dogg, Westside Gunn and more have joined in an outpouring of support mourning the unexpected loss of Big Wy.
The Inglewood native (real name Wytony Dillon) reportedly passed away recently and while details remain scarce surrounding the 49-year-old’s death, many in the Hip Hop community have paid homage to the former Death Row rapper with an array of social media posts on Friday (June 2).
Tha Doggfather posted a photo of Big Wy captioned “R.I.P.,” while the Buffalo rhymer took to Twitter with his tribute: “BIG WY We lost Another Good 1 #RIP.”
Producer Terrace Martin added in a heartfelt video dedicated to Wy: “Sending love and blessings to the family of Big Wy. We lost a beautiful person. We lost a powerful person in the community from the city of Inglewood from the West Coast.
“Somebody I used to go talk to all through the night about questions and all had the good West Coast history to teach me. He was a teacher, he was a father and son. Just everything y’all.”
He continued: “Peace and love to the city of Inglewood and everybody else that’s been affected by this terrible loss. Rest in peace, Big Wy.”

Big Wy broke into the rap game in the ’90s as a member of Bloods & Crips where he rhymed under the alias of Red Rag. He then helmed the Young Soldierz crew in 1994, who signed with Suge Knight’s Death Row Records and made appearances on soundtracks like Murder Was The Case.
Following a stint as one-half of The Relativez, Big Wy left an indelible mark on Hip Hop when he played an integral role in forming “Teach Me How To Dougie” rap group Cali Swag District in 2010.
In more recent years, Big Wy made a rare guest appearance on YG’s Blame It On the Streets cut “Bicken Back Being Bool” in 2014.
HipHopDX extends its condolences to the family and friends of Big Wy.
