Calling all Straw Hat Pirates! Netflix has released its first teaser trailer for the upcoming live-action adaptation of One Piece by Eiichiro Oda.

The first teaser for the live-action One Piece series was released during Netflix’s annual TUDUM event. The footage shows Luffy recruiting his Straw Hat Pirates such as Zorro, the heroes facing off against a giant sea monster in the New World, and even the debut of one of the manga’s classic villains in Buggy the Star Clown. The full teaser can be seen below:

One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda is serving as an executive producer on the live-action series alongside Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements of Tomorrow Studios, a production company that also worked on Netflix’s Cowboy Bebop. Matt Owens and Steven Maeda are adapting the series for the streamer.

The One Piece cast includes Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, Taz Skylar as Sanji, Morgan Davies as Koby, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino as Alvida, Aidan Scott as Helmeppo, Jeff Ward as Buggy the Clown, McKinley Belcher III as Arlong, Peter Gadiot as Shanks and Vincent Regan as Monkey D. Garp.

What is One Piece about?

The manga series follows Monkey D. Luffy as he leads his crew of pirates in a search of the world’s ultimate treasure known as the “One Piece” to become the next Pirate King. Their journey brings them to all kinds of exotic islands and oceans across the Grand Line.

The One Piece manga led to a multimedia franchise that includes a festival film produced by Japan’s Production I.G and an anime series from Toei Animation. To date, over 490 million copies of the One Piece manga have been published worldwide.
