The Small Press Spotlight has been keeping up with Unchartered Wilderness Studios’ 1950s sci-fi-comedy series The World of Tomorrow. Issue #3 hits today and we have the details.

World of Tomorrow

Continuing the misadventures of Craig Barstow, the burned-out lead actor of the (formerly) #1 sci-fi TV show, aptly named: The World of Tomorrow.

Issue 3 picks up moments after Craig snaps back to reality from his delusional split-personality: Captain Cal Armstrong (the fictional main character of his TV show). Realizing he is almost certainly late for his critical meeting with studio head, Dick Friezeman, Craig races across town in a stolen city bus to the infamous Brown Derby restaurant, with the fate of his show hanging in the balance. During the course of the meeting, Captain Cal emerges once again and destroys, not only the negotiations, but the entire restaurant.

Writer Giles Clarke said in a statement, “I loved being able to incorporate the infamous Brown Derby into this storyline. Those restaurants were such an identifiable part of Hollywood history, so it was very special to be able to put Craig in that setting…and let Captain Cal absolutely destroy it.”

World of Tomorrow

The entire original art team continues their run on this six-issue series including line artist Kenan Halilović and colorist Felipe Obando. Lettering is by AndWorld Design.
