Marvel Studios has continued to keep quiet on Jonathan Majors’ role as Kang the Conquerer and his various variants in the MCU. The character has an epic story arc in the MCU that will lead to the big film Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, but the next time we’ll see him is in Loki Season 2 with the variant Victor Timely.
Fans have been wondering if Marvel would be making any big changes to the series due to the accusations that have been made against Majors and his trial which is starting later this month. Earlier this year, Majors’ was arrested for assault of his former partner.
When it comes to Loki Season 2, the creative team didn’t change anything. Producer Kevin Wright confirmed this in an interview with Uproxx, saying:
“What I can say is the show that is on-screen, that will be going out, is the show that we wanted to make. Victor Timely was always a big part of that. The story that is there is what was written, what was shot. This is maybe the first Marvel movie or show with zero additional photography. So I think we feel strongly about what the story is, what the performances are. And we’re happy with it, and it’s what the show is. And what happened afterwards, none of us really know. And we’ll see.
At one point he was asked if there was ever a point where they actually considered reshooting the series with a different actor, and he said:
“No. And I think it’s because we had shot the show. We made the show. And there’s nothing really to act on at this moment.”
In the series, which premiered today, the God of Mischief (Tom Hiddleston) finds himself with a little problem of “time slipping.” The series also stars Owen Wilson, who returns as Mobius, and he will continue to help Loki as they try to figure out what is going on, and this leads them to the Kang variant Victor Timely.
The rest of the cast includes Sophia Di Martino, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Eugene Cordero, Rafael Casal, Kate Dickie, Liz Carr, Neil Ellice, Ke Huy Quan, and Tara Strong as Miss Minutes, who we see a variant of in the trailer.
The series was directed by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, Dan Deleeuw and Kasra Farahani. The head writer of the show is Eric Martin and it’s produced by Kevin Feige, Stephen Broussard, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Kevin R. Wright, Hiddleston, Benson, Moorhead, Martin, and Michael Waldron.
