On the latest episode of “It Is What It Is,” Ma$e talks about the night that The Notorious B.I.G. was tragically killed in 1997. He also reveals exactly where he was when the horrific incident unfolded.

While recalling the moments with co-host Cam’ron, Ma$e shared that he was casually chilling in his hotel when things were going down. “I was in a hotel. I was actually in a hotel with a young lady,” he said before revealing, “I was trapped in the hotel. It was about, probably like, 70 or so Bloods in the hallway. I couldn’t even leave my room.”

Cam’ron then asked why would a bunch of bloods be in the hallway of his hotel room after the murder. Ma$e said that he suspected they were “looking for more Bad Boy artists” to harm. “After Big got killed, they were probably looking for more Bad Boy artists. And I couldn’t even leave the room ’til Gene Deal (who is Diddy’s former bodyguard) had to come get me.” Cam’ron replied, “Damn, that’s f*cked up, sorry.”

However, Ma$e continued to share more. He said “I was left in L.A. And from that day, I always said, ‘I’m outta here,’” Ma$e continued. “I was left! I came there with people; I ain’t leave with those people. You know how it goes. Find your way home.”

The Harlem native eventually made his way out. He recalled, “To my recollection, I think we had to go to Vegas or something like that to get back to New York.”

More On The Notorious B.I.G.

Born on May 21, 1972, in Brooklyn, New York, Biggie Smalls emerged from humble beginnings to become one of the most significant figures in hip-hop history. His lyrical prowess, storytelling abilities, and distinctive flow quickly gained him recognition within the genre. Biggie’s debut album, “Ready to Die,” released in 1994, propelled him into the spotlight, earning critical acclaim and commercial success.

During the mid-1990s, tensions between the East Coast and West Coast rap scenes escalated, leading to a rivalry between Biggie’s Bad Boy Records, based on the East Coast, and Death Row Records, led by Tupac Shakur and Suge Knight, representing the West Coast. Sadly, this rivalry would ultimately prove fatal for both Biggie and Tupac.

On the night of March 9, 1997, Biggie Smalls attended the Soul Train Music Awards in Los Angeles. After leaving the event, he was sitting in the passenger seat of an SUV when an unknown assailant pulled up beside him and opened fire. Biggie was struck multiple times and rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries. The world lost a legendary artist, and the circumstances surrounding his death remain a mystery to this day.

Of course, following news of the latest arrest of Tupac Shakur’s killer, Keefe D, it’s reopening questions about Biggie’s horrific murder.
