Summary
It appears there’s a chance that Loki season 3 could happen as one of the leading producers teases the possible Marvel Cinematic Universe future that exists for Tom Hiddleston after season 2. After a significant hiatus, Loki season 2 has finally kicked off, continuing the multiverse exploration of the God of Mischief. As the MCU is moving forward with The Multiverse Saga, Loki season 2 is right now one of the most important chapters in the arc, not the least because of the return of Kang this season.
While Loki season 2, episode 1 was released on Disney+ last week, executive producer Kevin Wright may have foreshadowed a season 3 possibility. In an interview with Collider, Wright spoke about crafting Loki season 2, seeing it “closing that book” of the story they have been focusing on since season 1. However, Wright stressed “there are many books on the shelf for this character,” as he teased the following about what the chances are for Loki season 3 to happen:
It was similar to Season 1 in we wanted to tell this story and tell it well, but even in Season 1, we obviously were thinking about where we were going. I would say Season 1 and Season 2 were developed and created as, like, kind of two chapters of the same book. We felt pretty strongly, all of us involved, that Season 2 was about closing that book but that there are many other books on the shelf for this character and for this world. But this felt like it wanted to be the conclusion of these great things that we set up in Season 1. We don’t want to constantly leave people with drastic cliffhangers for our finales.
