The Taliban has released a British YouTuber after he spent eight months in their custody. Despite his recent endeavor, he says he is ready to visit Kabul next month.

Miles Routledge, also known as Lord Miles, updated his followers with a post on X and said the extremist group was very “hospitable” towards him during his stay. “8 months in Taliban Intelligence “custody,” best adventure I’ve had yet! All the previous tweets are true. Best mates with many top commanders after numerous picnics, lovely lads treated me as a guest! I will be returning to Kabul next month,” he wrote. Many of his followers presumed Routledge,23, was dead after the Taliban arrested him in March, but he stated that they allowed him to have a cell phone and watch ‘Barbie’ on a laptop.

“Really outdid myself. Why did some of you think I was dead? Why did anyone worry in the slightest? No faith in me! I have pull. Literally was watching the new Barbie movie with the Taliban and saw some of your comments on their phones, all of us snickering. Hehe,” he added in a follow-up post. According to a report by LAD Bible, Routledge is one of the four prisoners from the United Kingdom released from the group. He was previously evacuated from Afghanistan by the British Armed Forces after the Taliban took over Kabul in August 2021.

Routledge claimed that he would have documentation for his next visit and considered whether to visit Israel despite the current crisis with Palestine. Routledge claimed that he would have documentation for his next visit and considered whether to visit Israel despite the current situation with Palestine. The Youtuber became infamously known for his unique travel experiences as he confessed to illegally crossing borders to visit his then-girlfriend, but she dumped him via text message. Routledge also stated that Brooklyn, New York, was more dangerous than Afghanistan and planned to visit Ukraine a month before the war with Russia.

More info later, fun story! Just got to consider if I should pop down to Israel vs Palestine (obviously want to) 2nd book almost finished, YouTube video under works, gold mine coming together. Many pics. I will respond to every single one of you when I can, love u all 🙂

Routledge also asked UK-based media outlets to D.M. him with an offer if they wanted to see pictures and get an exclusive about his experience with the Taliban. “Money money money. U.K. Journalists, kindly D.M. me your offer for an exclusive. I have a lot of photos. Need to fund another adventure of course!” he wrote in several posts on X.

The United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office advises citizens not to travel to Afghanistan due to the high risk of detention and terrorist threats.

“You should not travel to Afghanistan. The security situation in Afghanistan remains extremely volatile. There is an ongoing and high threat of terrorist attacks through Afghanistan, including around the airport.”

The United States State Department has issued a similar warning and urges citizens not to travel to Afghanistan.

“Do not travel to Afghanistan due to armed conflict, civil unrest, crime, terrorism, and kidnapping. Travel to all areas of Afghanistan is unsafe, and the risk of kidnapping or violence against U.S. citizens in Afghanistan is high.”
