Miami rap legend Trick Daddy went completely nuclear on the South Atlanta Regional Director of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. (AKA), who addressed officials cutting the rapper’s conference performance short due to vulgar lyrics.

On Friday evening (April 3), Trick Daddy, born Maurice Young, hit the stage during the AKA’s 73rd South Atlantic Regional Conference in Orlando, Florida. Shortly after taking the stage and performing a couple of his hits, handfuls of sorority members began leaving the conference room.

In videos that have gone viral, the women — ranging in all ages, but several older — clutch their pearls and purses as Trick Daddy rapped his raunchy lyrics and gyrated all across the stage with his crew. Eventually, Trick Daddy’s set was shut down and an emcee said, “Let’s give Trick Daddy a round of applause…We went a little too far.”

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. South Atlantic Regional Director Speaks After Officials Shut Down Trick Daddy’s Performance During Conference

Following the viral incident, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. South Atlantic Regional Director Tiffany Moore Russell addressed attendees in a written message. Russell said the region contracted the rapper to perform selected songs after its Step and Stroll Competition.

She claimed the organization met with Trick and his team several times before the event. During the conversations, Trick and his team were given detailed expectations, including attire, language, and specific songs to perform.

However, Russell said the rapper ultimately ignored all of the requirements during his “unacceptable” and “disrespectful” performance. Russell’s address failed to specify which lyrics and language led to his performance getting cut short. Additionally, she did not detail how long the performance lasted before officials shut him down.

Russell wrote:

“To my sisters who are attending the 73rd South Atlantic Regional Conference. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.®, South Atlantic Region, contracted with Trick Daddy, a rapper from Miami, to perform a selected list of songs after our Step and Stroll Competition on Friday night. We met several times with him and his team to detail our requirements, including attire, language and specific songs. Unfortunately, our requirements were ignored. The language, the lyrics, and the comments made by the artist were not acceptable. I ended the performance because of the disrespect for our organization and for our brand. Our step teams represented the creativity, the discipline and excellence that make our sisterhood proud, and I regret that this performance detracted from that experience. Thank you, my sisters, for extending grace and for continuing to uphold the standards of dignity that define Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® , and the South Atlantic Region.”

After the AKA South Atlantic Director addressed Trick Daddy’s cut performance, the rapper broke his silence. During a livestream, he completely crashed out and went nuclear on the director. In addition to calling her out of her name — several times before apologizing — he accused her of defamation.

He claimed her statement defamed him. He also insisted that anyone who know Trick and his music would know the content of his lyrics and should have never booked him otherwise.
