In an excerpt from her upcoming memoir, Britney Spears shares that — back during her three-year relationship with Justin Timberlake — she reportedly opted to have an abortion after becoming pregnant.

Britney Says Justin Timberlake “Definitely Wasn’t Happy” About The Pregnancy News
On Tuesday (Oct. 17), PEOPLE relayed that the superstar discussed the news in an advance copy of her book, The Woman In Me.
Britney Spears reportedly acknowledged that, while the pregnancy was a “surprise,” she didn’t see it as a “tragedy.”
“It was a surprise, but for me, it wasn’t a tragedy. I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated.”
Recalling Timberlake’s reaction to the development, though, Britney said he “definitely wasn’t happy.”
“But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young.”
Spears continued, sharing that she “never would have done it” if the situation “had been left up to [her] alone.” However, she penned that the “SexyBack” singer “was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father.”
She added, “To this day, it’s one of the most agonizing things I have ever experienced in my life.”
While the outlet didn’t note the exact timeline, TMZ reports that sources pinpoint the development as occurring in late 2000.
Justin Timberlake hasn’t publicly addressed the claim.

Britney Spears Says Her Conservatorship Turned Her Into A “Child-Robot” While Stripping Her Creativity
In addition to this revelation about her past abortion, Britney Spears reflected on the reality of living under her notorious conservatorship for over 13 years.
According to PEOPLE, she described the experience as turning her into “a sort of child-robot.”
“I became a robot. But not just a robot — a sort of child-robot. I had been so infantilized that I was losing pieces of what made me feel like myself.”
She added, “The conservatorship stripped me of my womanhood, made me into a child. … I had always felt music in my bones and my blood; they stole that from me.”
Not stopping there, Britney Spears said that the conservatorship was ultimately “death to [her] creativity as an artist.”
“The woman in me was pushed down for a long time. They wanted me to be wild onstage, the way they told me to be, and to be a robot the rest of the time. I felt like I was being deprived of those good secrets of life — those fundamental supposed sins of indulgence and adventure that make us human. They wanted to take away that specialness and keep everything as rote as possible. It was death to my creativity as an artist.”
