Former Death Row Records CEO Suge Knight is launching a podcast from prison in collaboration with Dave Mays, founder of The Source. The podcast will discuss his experiences in the industry and address hip-hop topics.

Knight said in a recent statement that he will not discuss Tupac Shakur’s murder case despite being an eyewitness, and his podcast will not discuss the case details, Yahoo! News reported. It is scheduled to release on Halloween 2023, and five half-hour episodes have previously been recorded.
The podcast covers various hip-hop-related topics, including speaking with young and old artists, individuals who use his name for publicity, and his thoughts on Snoop Dogg acquiring ownership of the Death Row brand.

The podcast will also focus on connecting old artists with new artists, along with audience questions. Episodes will be released weekly, and audio versions will be available on Thursdays. The video versions will be released on Fridays, and a sneak peek of the first episode is scheduled to launch on October 24.
Suge Knight is currently serving 28 years in prison for voluntary manslaughter and expressed that he was surprised about Duane “Keefe D” Davis’ arrest for the Tupac murder case. He emphasized that he would not speak negatively about Davis despite what he disclosed to police or during interviews.
In 1996, Tupac Shakur was murdered in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas. Knight was in the car with Shakur at the time of the shooting, but he was not injured. Knight was later suspected of involvement in Shakur’s murder, but he was never charged.In 2015, Knight was arrested and charged with murder and attempted murder after he struck and killed Terry Carter with his car. Knight was convicted of voluntary manslaughter in 2018 and sentenced to 28 years.
Mays created The Source in 1988 as a single-sheet newsletter while a Harvard undergraduate. It soon became a national magazine and the bible of hip-hop culture. Mays built a stable of companies around The Source brand, including a compilation album series, two weekly TV shows, a mobile content download business, and a clothing line, as well as foreign-language editions of the magazine.
Mays was the first entrepreneur to introduce hip-hop to Madison Avenue, opening the doors for Nike, Mountain Dew, and other corporate brands to begin marketing to the hip-hop consumer. He is also credited with helping to launch the careers of many of hip-hop’s biggest stars, including Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Tupac Shakur, and Eminem.
