Rob McElhenney and Chris Pratt teamed up to reveal a new park named after Ryan Reynolds in a comedic Parks and Recreation parody video.
The video shows McElhenney pitching Chris Pratt the idea of creating a park in Wrexham as a birthday gift for Reynolds. The comedic timing and camera work serve as an homage to the comedy series Parks and Recreation, which Chris Pratt starred in.
It then reveals that a real park, the Ryan Rodney Reynolds Memorial Park, will be created in Wrexham, Wales. The park itself will be an open and green space that will feature pop-up restaurants, movie screenings, lanterns with green lights (in reference to Reynolds’ role in 2011’s Green Lantern), benches, a statue, and more. What does the name Parks & Wrex refer to?
Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds are behind the popular docuseries Welcome to Wrexham, which chronicles McElhenney and Reynolds’ purchase and stewardship of the Welsh football team Wrexham AFC.
The Wrex in Parks & Wrex is in reference to the location of the park and their connection to Wrexham through the series, completing the title’s comedic spin on Parks and Rec.
