Big Boi of OutKast has frequently called Kate Bush one of his favorite artists, and now he paid the ultimate tribute to her by inducting her into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Bush, who is known for her ethereal brand of rock music with such songs as “This Woman’s Work” (which was covered by Maxwell), “Experiment IV,” and “Running Up That Hill,” was inducted by the “The Way You Move” rapper on Friday (November 3). She was a no-show at the ceremony, but that didn’t stop Big Boi from singing her praises.

“On the surface, our music is obviously very different. But in important ways, we’re exactly the same. What I love about Kate’s music is that I never know what sound I’m going to hear next,” Big Boi said during his induction speech. “No matter how many times I listen to albums like The Dreaming or 50 Words for Snow, they sound fresh and surprise me every time.”

Check it out below.

Back in 2021, Big Boi revealed that he scored a dream collaboration with Kate Bush.

In an interview with Mark Ronson for The FADER Uncovered podcast, Daddy Fat Sax revealed that he just wanted to wait for the right time to release the song.

“I have a monster hit with Kate Bush that I’m just holding,” he said. “It’s a dream come true and the people are going to fucking love it. It’s fucking incredible.”

And in a September 2018 interview with HipHopDX, Big Boi explained why he’s so drawn to the Hounds of Love singer. “I love the creativity and the writing and the layers of music in the production. And her voice, man. Her voice is so enchanting. There’s a lot of feeling in her music. I listen to it all. I been listening to it now since I was a teenager and it never gets old.

“I got a chance to go see the Before The Dawn show. It was the first time I ever saw her live, years ago, and it was an experience like no other. It kind of reminded me of when I did BIG for the Atlanta Ballet. It was that same live-type show with music and theatrics and visuals, it was dope, you know what I mean. She’s the total package artist and I mean I got nothing but love and admiration for her.”
