Actress Sofía Vergara has shared her hopes for the new year after a rather “interesting” 2023.
Speaking to People, the Modern Family actress shared she had “a very interesting year,”
“I don’t want to say ‘bad’ or anything like that, but it’s been very interesting and very difficult.”

“I went through a divorce this year, the SAG strike that went on for so long… I’ve seen my friends struggle – some had to take their kids out of their schools or had problems with their mortgages, so it’s been a weird, weird year.”
The actress, 51, went through a shock split with her husband, actor Joe Manganiello, 46, in July after seven years of marriage.
“We have made the difficult decision to divorce,” they said in a joint statement at the time, “As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.”

“It’s not like it’s bad,” Vergara comments now, “I think all the things are resolving, everything is going to be okay and I’m very excited for next year.”
Both Vergara and Manganiello have started moving on from their marriage. The actress was recently spotted spending time with orthopedic surgeon Justin Saliman, while Manganiello was snapped leaving the gym with actress Caitlin O’Connor in September.
Vergara also found comfort in old friends, holding a cast reunion for her Modern Family co-stars in her home.

Modern Family cast throws fans into panic with single photo
The entire cast made it to the celebration – except one glaring absence. Ty Burrell, who played loveable dad Phil Dunphy, was only present in the form of a framed picture that the cast comically passed around.
The gesture sent fans into a googling frenzy however, as they were scared the actor had passed away and the cast was holding a makeshift wake for him. They co-stars had even propped the picture on the mantle and chanted in a chorus, “We miss you Ty!”, which added fuel to the fire.
