Sony Pictures and Nintendo teaming up to develop the long-awaited live-action feature film adaptation of The Legend of Zelda. It was also announced that Wes Ball will be directing the movie. He most recently helmed Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, and he also made The Maze Runner movies.

Fans have been wanting to see a film adaptation of The Legend of Zelda for a very long time and it’s finally going to happen! While this is interesting news, and I’m curiously excited to see how the movie turns out, I still would’ve liked to see Studio Ghibli develop an anime adaptation of the classic Nintendo property.

A live-action movie has the potential to be a visually stunning and incredibly epic movie! I hope that the studio doesn’t squander the opportunity to make that awesome movie that this franchise deserves. It would be such a shame if they dropped the ball on this.

The Legend of Zelda follows the adventures of a young hero named Link, who is often tasked with rescuing Princess Zelda and battling the malevolent villain Ganon. The series is praised for its engaging, open-world exploration, intricate puzzles, and rich storytelling. Each game typically takes place in the fantasy realm of Hyrule and features a mix of action, puzzle-solving, and exploration. With a history spanning over three decades, The Legend of Zelda has consistently delivered great entertainment to gamers and fans.

After The Super Mario Bros. movie became a huge hit, there were reports that Nintendo was looking to expand their film division. Making a Legend of Zelda movie was the next logical direction they would go. I just hope the creative team pumps out an amazing film!

Legend of Zelda will be produced by Shigeru Miyamoto, Representative Director and Fellow of Nintendo and Avi Arad, Chairman of Arad Productions Inc.
