Kristen Doute suffered a miscarriage after conceiving her first child with her boyfriend, Luke Broderick.
On the latest episode of her podcast, the Vanderpump Rules cast member, 40, who began dating Luke in late 2022 after her split from Alex Menache, opened up about the “f*cing terrifying” loss, which came at a time when she was six weeks pregnant.
“I only feel comfortable talking about this because I know so many friends of mine have gone through this. I know so many women have been through this,” she said on the November 26 episode of Sex, Love and What Else Matters, via Page Six.
According to Kristen, her pregnancy was not viable and an embryo never developed.
“You always think, ‘What’s wrong, what did I do wrong? Could I have done something different?’” she said. “And my doctor and my friends have told me, inside and out up and down, there’s no cause. They don’t know why.”
Although Kristen considered freezing her eggs last summer, she didn’t ultimately do so, nor did she seek out any other fertility methods.
“We were so so lucky, because it could have gone a different way for me at my age. I haven’t gone through IVF, I haven’t frozen my eggs, I haven’t done anything. I just think there’s something in God’s plan,” she shared, noting that she and Luke conceived “so quickly.”
“The only silver lining, the fact that we’ve now been digesting this for the last four or five days, is that I know once Luke and I are past this, we can try again,” she continued. “We’re very hopeful to have a very healthy pregnancy the next time around.”
Also during the podcast episode, Luke, who co-hosts the show with Kristen, said the loss had been “hard” for them both and that it was difficult to talk publicly about the miscarriage.
Just last month, during another one of her podcast episodes, Kristen said that after visiting her doctor, she and Luke were determined to start a family.
“I did go to my OBGYN and we got all good news on that front,” she explained at that time. “So whenever we are ready to start trying, so far it looks good.”
Kristen also noted that because a psychic previously told her she would have a baby boy “somewhere between 41 and 42,” she is not “going to worry about having a baby in 2023.”
During an interview with The Messenger in September, Kristen confirmed plans to start a family with Luke.
“I know that we have an amazing future ahead of us, full of a couple of kids and a lot of love and a lot of really cool entrepreneurial businesses and endeavors,” she teased.
Vanderpump Rules season 11 is set to premiere on Bravo in January 2024.
