While Pacific Islanders can certainly learn and perform dances from other islands, it’s important for folks to realize that every island has its own culture. “This gave non-Pacific Islanders the assumption that we, Sāmoans, do the haka, but we don’t. This miseducation of culture is what leads to racist notions that you can lump people together, and it’s okay. It’s not okay.”
