A plastic surgeon is under investigation after his wife suffered from cardiac arrest and died while he performed multiple procedures on her at his clinic in Gulf Breeze.

Hilary Brown,33, underwent surgery on November 21 at her husband Dr. Ben Brown’s clinic, Restore Plastic Surgery, and went into a coma after the medical emergency. She spent a week in a coma before she was taken off of life support when doctors determined that her brain lacked oxygen. According to the Daily Mail, Dr. Brown’s clinic is facing multiple lawsuits and is under investigation by the Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office.
The mother of three married the plastic surgeon about two years ago and her father, Marty Ellington, said that the marriage was “intense” but believes his daughter didn’t want to end things because of the benefits of being married to a plastic surgeon. He also said there was no crash cart with equipment such as oxygen and defibrillators during the fateful procedure in the operating room.

‘With the amount of swelling in her brain, that means her brain suffered from lack of oxygen for quite some time. We haven’t been given answers. If it’s a mistake, it was a mistake, but it doesn’t bring my daughter back, you know. I don’t want his money. I don’t want anything. All I want is an answer because I think that we owe that to my daughter.’
On Nov. 24, Dr. Brown wrote in a Facebook post that he performed CPR and called 911: ‘We called 911 and started CPR. Her heart came back but her brain is not doing well,’ he wrote at the time. ‘Hillary Ellington Brown you are my soulmate, my world, my everything. Please come back. Please!’ His clinic is currently facing two malpractice lawsuits where one has alleged that Dr. Ben used ‘foreign materials’ during a post-mastectomy operation in 2018, and the patient suffered from an infection caused by sepsis.
His family also released a statement saying the procedure was minor and routine when Hilary suffered cardiac arrest:
‘Ben is completely devastated by the sudden loss of his loving wife Hillary and is desperately trying to understand how to live one day, never mind a lifetime without her by his side. Our lives have been permanently upended by the loss of Hillary and we will forever keep her in our hearts,’
