Social media users are mourning the passing of Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell. The 29-year-old was the eldest daughter of Mama June Shannon and sister of ‘Here Comes Honey Boo Boo’ star Alana Thompson.
More Details Regarding The Passing Of Chickadee
Mama June Shannon took to Instagram on Sunday, December 10, to share a photo of her alongside her four daughters and two men. In the post’s caption, Shannon announced that Cardwell passed away in her home the night before.
To note, Cardwell was diagnosed with stage 4 adrenal carcinoma, an advanced cancer that indicates a tumor has spread to other parts of the body, in January, per PEOPLE.
“With the breaking heart, we are announcing that @annamarie35 is no longer with us. She passed away in my home last night peacefully at 11:12 PM…” Shannon began her caption.
The mother of four explained that Cardwell “gave one hell of a fight for 10 months.” Additionally, she explained that her daughter passed away with her “family around her.”

Shannon then concluded her statements by explaining that she and her family would update the public with more information.
Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson also paid tribute to his sister with a post on Instagram.
“Last night we all surrounded Anna with love & let her know it was okay to go. Unfortunately around 11pm Anna took her last breathe. Anna was in so much pain last night but now as a family we all know she is at peace now,” Thompson wrote. “I really don’t know what to say as my heart is completely broken. Watching my 29 year old sister this last year battle this horrible disease hasn’t been easy. Anna was a fighter & still is. Lord please wrap your arms around her 2 babies & our family as the next couple of days will make this all a reality 🥹… The sky looks a little bit different today. We will always love you Anna 💔. You hit me hard with his one Anna but i know your in a better place now and pain free forever!”

According to PEOPLE, Cardwell is survived by two daughters, Kaitlyn Elizabeth and Kylee Madison.

A Brief Look At Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell’s Battle With Cancer
According to PEOPLE, after Cardwell learned her cancer had spread to her liver, kidney, and lung, she underwent her first round of chemotherapy in March.
In May, Chickadee took to social media to share that she was in her third round of chemotherapy, and things were “looking good.”
“Well going on to round 3 of chemo.this yesterday it was pretty good day but did get a little and Cracker Barrel was good going down but not up 😂 but over all it’s going good and chemo is working we come to find so things are looking good 😇😁😁🙏 “
Around the same time, Mama June Shannon spoke exclusively with PEOPLE to share her thoughts on her daughter’s diagnosis.
“You don’t know whether to scream. You don’t know whether to laugh. You don’t know whether to holler. You don’t know who to blame,” she told the outlet at the time.
Then, on Friday, Shannon took to Instagram to request that the public pray for her family.
“Y’all we r asking for prayers for our family as we are going through this process we really appreciate y’all for all the thoughts and prayers and we will update y’all whenever we can just know that all of your thoughts and your prayers are very much appreciated during this time…”
