Travis Scott and tennis legend John McEnroe’s spat over their collaborative Nike sneaker has continued to heat up.

In an Instagram video posted on Sunday (December 10) by The People Gallery, McEnroe defaces a pair of their Nike Mac Attack kicks, writing “Mac” over Travis’ Cactus Jack logo on the heel of the shoe.

McEnroe was also wearing a T-shirt which had “Cactus Mac” written on it in the style of Scott’s Cactus Jack logo.

In the video, McEnroe addresses the rapper directly, saying: “I was wearing these things in the ’80s before this guy was born. Now, all of a sudden Travis Scott’s got this thing, Cactus Jack, so I just made it Cactus Mac.

“I mean, come on. A bit of respect — that’s all I’m asking for.”

The situation between Travis Scott and John McEnroe, which is possibly a publicity stunt orchestrated by Nike, began over the weekend when a video showing them having a heated argument during a Zoom call went viral.

In the clip, McEnroe voices his disapproval of Scott’s suggestion to name the kicks “Cactus Jack” and demands the line instead be called “Cactus Mac.” “God damn it, Travis. [Nike employee] Jenny is right, okay? Let’s have a little bit of compromise.”

Despite Scott’s attempt to explain that “Cactus Mac was never a thing,” McEnroe wasn’t willing to budge and took the feedback as a slap in the face, exclaiming: “Come on, man! Show some respect! This is my shoe!”

Scott replied: “I’m not really like feelin’ it. It’s, like, something about it feels off…like selling burgers or something.”

He added: We ain’t trying to take none of that away from you. Ain’t trying to disrespect. I ain’t trying to do anything like that. Trust me, I know more about the value of the shoe than anybody else.

“But right now, the young ragers really the ones kind of pushing me for what is going on right now. I mean, you got to trust me on this.”

The clip ended with McEnroe storming out of the Zoom meeting and refusing to return.

In June this year, Nike announced that they would be reviving McEnroe’s signature Mac Attack shoe with Travis Scott redesigning the silhouette.

Scott and Nike have yet to comment on McEnroe’s remarks.
