In a thrilling fusion of modern dance and pop-punk nostalgia, Steve Aoki and Yellowcard have joined forces to celebrate an unforgettable milestone.

Aoki has taken on the ambitious task of putting a fresh spin on 2003’s “Ocean Avenue” just in time for the song’s 20th anniversary. The commercial success of Yellowcard’s classic speaks volumes about its lasting impact. Certified Double Platinum in the US and achieving significant acclaim worldwide, the song catapulted the band to new heights in the music industry.

The collaborative remix showcases Aoki’s signature style and energy while paying homage to the original’s enduring appeal. The song builds with stadium-filling claps amid the track’s singalong-style vocals. The first act is marked by radiant future bass synths before Aoki unexpectedly shifts gears in the second drop, introducing a cadence of hard dance-style kicks.

This isn’t Aoki’s first venture into the pop-punk realm. He has previously worked with artists the likes of blink-182 and Machine Gun Kelly, bringing his tried-and-true electro-punk fusion to their respective sounds, among many others.

His collaboration with Yellowcard came about after a conversation with the band’s frontman Ryan Key, who expressed admiration for the producer’s recent alternative-leaning collaborations featured on HiROQUEST: Genesis.

“When Ryan initially reached out about this possible collab, I was really excited—especially when I discovered how much he loves electronic music,” Aoki said. “We combined our different musical styles to create a perfect fusion of alt rock and electronic for this track. Honoring ‘Ocean Avenue’s’ 20th anniversary by blending these sounds was an amazing experience.”
