Whew! Young Thug’s father is not having it! The YSL rapper’s father, Jeffery Williams Sr., recently called out Lil Baby for allegedly throwing shots at fellow rapper Gunna. The accusations stem from Lil Baby’s apparent diss towards Gunna during a song snippet that surfaced online over the summer and a recent dig. This also comes amidst the ongoing Young Thug trial, adding fuel to the fire and sparking discussions about loyalty and integrity within the rap industry.

The controversy surrounding Lil Baby sparked back up when a video surfaced earlier this month, showing him expressing his disdain for “rats” while his hit collaboration with Gunna, “Drip Too Hard,” played in the background during a performance. Many interpreted this as a direct shot at Gunna, implying that he was involved in snitching allegations. The snippet quickly circulated on social media, causing a stir among fans and industry insiders.

During a recent livestream interview with legal affairs journalist @infamous_sylvia, Jeffery Williams Sr. took the opportunity to address Lil Baby’s alleged diss towards Gunna. He said, “[Lil Baby] need to shut the f**k up, ’cause he don’t know what’s going on. He going off a what he heard. Ask Lil Baby has he ever come to a court date. That’s what I want y’all to ask these goddamn rappers and these bloggers with this snitch s**t.” That’s not all Big Jeff had to say. He continued, “When have y’all went to a court date to support Slime?…Go on their social media pages and say, ‘Why in the f**k haven’t you been to the courthouse to support your dude?’ And I guarantee you won’t get an answer.”

As many are aware, In May 2022, Young Thug was arrested and charged on two counts: conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act participating in criminal street gang activity.

Young Thug was among 28 individuals named in the indictment who are allegedly associated his Atlanta-based gang called Young Slime Life (YSL). Prosecutors allege Young Thug co-founded the group along with two other co-defendants, in 2012. However YSL, which is also the acronym for “Young Stoner Life,” is also the name of the rapper’s brand and music label — an imprint of 300 Entertainment.

Gunna who was also arrested around the time Thug was apprehended was released on December 14, 2022 after pleading guilty per the terms of an Alford plea deal. Of course, that led many to assume that he threw Thug under the bus to get out to the slammer. However, Gunna’s legal team previously commented on those rumors and reaffirmed their client’s innocence, claiming he “never” cooperated with authorities.

“Gunna has never been interviewed by or cooperated with law enforcement or prosecutors in the RICO case,” the statement read. “Nor have his attorneys proffered information on his behalf.” They continued, “What was said at his Alford plea hearing was solely to resolve his own case. It cannot be used by the prosecution against Young Thug or any other defendant.”

The trial for rapper Young Thug and five other people is on pause until early next year after one of the defendants was stabbed in the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta earlier this month.
